Brand New Handmade Mugs and Bowls in my Pottery Shop

Hello everyone! After a very, very long hiatus from this blog...I'm so happy to be back! And I'm back with a New Year...and New Pottery!

The truth is I not only had a very long hiatus from writing in my pottery blog, but also from making pottery as well. I have been in the process of healing from a broken finger and several surgeries thereafter, for the past few years and I actually haven't made pottery in years, which is why I have not posted anything ceramics related here. But since moving to Santa Barbara, California at the end of 2012, I was recently able to find a new space to make pottery again and am so happy to reconnect with one of my first loves- pottery.

I'm still healing my broken finger years later so most of my new pottery is a combination of both wheel thrown and slab built pottery.

I've also begun using a new technique in my work where I essentially use textured fabric to create slab formed mugs and platters. The print impressed onto each mug or plate is different and unique to each.

The finished look is unlike many pieces I've seen lately days. You could even call it "boho chic dinnerware"...or "boho chic home decor" as I often refer to it! In my ideal world my home decor would include not just colorful dinnerware, soap dishes and vases, but also colorful furniture, throws, pillows, blankets, bedding and overall design even down to the tiles in the bathroom and on the spanish style staircase.

In fact, if you want to know what my ideal boho home looks like, feel free to check out my dream "boho chic home decor" vision board on pinterest.

But back to my pottery and whats new in my shop...

This new small yet intense red plate has circle flower patterns and I love the way the glaze is thinner and thicker in some areas, revealing or hiding parts of the underlying pattern.

Similarly, here is an intense red soap dish in a square shape instead of a circle where the pattern is barely revealed, which causes the intensity of the color to be even richer, which I think will add a nice pop of color to any bathroom or kitchen when used as a soap dish or small plate...some of my customers also love to use these small dishes as holders for small delicate keepsakes like earrings or rings to be kept on their nightstand.

Besides new plates, platters and soap dishes here are a few new bowls with some designs carved in. This one is inspired by Japanese shine bowls and you can see this one and a few other bowls here...
